Dance in the Rain

This is the one of the two swap cards I made for Jeanette’s newest forest swap on SCS—Rain in the Forest.  I love her swaps and all of the people—friends—that are in the thread.  I think this is a perfect sentiment as there have been some of the forest friends who have had some storms lately—I am sure they all know how to dance!

Calendar Girls-Barn Quilt Card

It is the 28th, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.

Terry came up with our April Theme:
What is a Barn Quilt? A barn quilt is an 8 foot by 8 foot replica of a quilt block made of plywood and hung on the side of old barns here in Wisconsin. There are hundreds throughout the state and I love seeing them up close and personal. Here are some examples (the first picture I pass every day):

Note by Barb--Since I too live in Wisconin, I love Barn Quilts.
My challenge to you is to use one of the following quilt blocks to create this month’s card:

The first three options scared me, but I really liked the fourth one.  So, off I went to look for patterned paper that I thought looked like a quilt fabric.  I recently got a 6x6 pack of Stampin’ Up paper of last years in colors and thought that was perfect.  It took awhile to play with the sizes of the patchwork to make it fit the cardstock, but I really like the way it turned out.  The stamp set I used saw ink for the first time, though I have had it for a few years. I got it at a stamp convention at a booth that specializes in Iris Folds and had many templates to choose from.  Note-those templates too have yet to be used.  I think this sentiment is perfect for this wonderful group of friends--though some feel they never age........................... right Jeanette?  I am so blessed to have a wonderful group of ladies I have met--some in real life and others only virtually--and I call them my Friends!

Dueling Darlings Card--for the Guys!

It is the 15th of the month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge. Our hostess this month for the Divas is LJ and she sent us a great kit. The theme that Terry, the hostess for the Dazzlers and LJ came up with is masculine cards—giving a shout out to all of the guys in our life.

I think the image is cute, but the sentiments LJ sent to go along with the mower are great—the other choice was "Love Ya' mower and mower"! I hope you like my gate-fold card that I will send to my brother—the best guy in my life!

I really like this patterned paper, so I made sure I used a large piece of it in the inside, along with some of the wonderful ribbon and a slide.

SOTC March Card--Things that Fly!

This is a card that I made for our monthly SOTC—Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards--Swap on SCS.  Lorie was our hostess for March.  Here is her challenge:

When thinking about a theme for March, what immediately comes to my mind is how windy it can be, and of course, kites. One of my favorite things to do as a kid was fly a kite! I have to admit that I really haven't seen too many stamps out there with kites, or kite themes, so how about "Things that fly." It could be anything at all that will fly. Kites, planes, birds, butterflies, etc. Whatever inspires you to pull out a stamp set that you already have and/or maybe one that hasn't seen much ink, and get creative.

I really like the kite paper that I used in a recent spring swap—so I paired it with a congratulations sentiment!  I hope you like the card.

Unidentified Image Swap--Spring has Sprung!

This is the first card for a new mystery image swap on SCS. I started a second group of ladies who are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap is called the Unidentified Image Swap Cards and I am the first hostess. The images for this first round were provided by me and it has been so fun to see all of the creations come in made with this same cute image. I did not include a sentiment and asked each participant to include one on the front of their card. I will swap out the cards and include the next image that Kelly, our second hostess, provided. And then we get to do it all again!!!!

I think this lil' duckie image is so versatile and can be used for a baby card, spring wishes, bon voyage, thinking of you, baby or wedding shower, etc.  I decided to make mine as a congratulations card—I really like this sentiment that also came in the  same stamp set.

Crafty Gals April Showers Card

It is the 5th of the month, so I am back with the 5th Challenge of the Crafty Gals!  We are a group of bloggers who have monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.

This month, the challenge was posted by Diane.  Here are the details:

"April Showers bring May Flowers"
Since April is supposed to be a rainy month in most of the country, I thought we would try a "water" challenge. My challenge to you is to incorporate water in some way on your card. It can be rain, puddles, ocean, sea, beach, lake, bathtub or anything else you can think of. In addition to the water, I want you to use ribbon, brads and patterned paper on your card. I can't wait to see your creations and I hope you all enjoy this month's challenge.

I have quite a few images that fit this description and found a newer one that has not seen ink yet.  I think this is such a cute image and I really like the raindrop designer paper.  I made a square card so I was able to incorporate all of the components.

I used crystal effects on his boots, so they looked like he had been playing in the puddles.

The sentiment on the inside is perfect for this image.
